A thought about online friends.

It makes me sad when people seem to value their internet friends as better friends than their IRL friends. Sadly enough the people who ‘know you’ online don’t know you at all. Sure you can connect with them easy because you have similar interests. But the fact of the matter is they know the person that you want them to see not the person that you really are. People who contest this fact are just more deluded than they think. This becomes more of an issue when you’re in a relationship. Do you REALLY think that the person you’re being intimate with knows you less and has a lesser connection with you than someone you met/know online? If that’s the case, why are you with them to begin with?

Don’t get me wrong, having friends over the net is fine, but putting all of your faith in them and putting none if the people who actually, physically, know you and care about you is completely wrong.

People who are still arguing this point even after that paragraph are simply insane, have no real life friends to compare this with, or have friends but distrust them so much deep down that they’ll never be convinced otherwise.
